Automation Specialist – Saint-Bruno, QC
The Automation Specialist reports to the director of engineering. They help with the design and programming of automated systems, operator or industrial robot (asset) interfaces by using technical specifications, plans and technical schematics, while meeting industry norms and standards.
In collaboration with the engineering team, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Drafting technical documents related to the maintenance of an automated system
- Producing technical documents related to the operation of automated systems and/or mechanical equipment in the area of handling/finishing for the metal industry and the pulp and paper industry
- Designing electrical controls for these systems and/or equipment, according to the specifications
- Creating operating sequences (grafcet) and logic programming code (LPC) to control the required equipment
- Verifying and managing allocated time and material budgets
- Preparing and/or assisting in the planning of plant tests
- Creating and programming operator interfaces (HMI)
- Supporting the assembly and verification of plant equipment
- Supporting or leading the installation and commissioning of automated equipment at the job site
- Teaching the client’s employees how to properly operate the equipment
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical programming operations issues

Technical knowledge
- Relevant experience in electricity and programming of industrial robots with LPC
- Programming HMI and SCADA system operator interfaces
- Commissioning industrial equipment
- Developing drawings
Degrees and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or DEC in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Automation
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) is an asset
