Job Description:

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Designer – Momentum Projects to join the service team at our site in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, QC.

The main responsibilities of the position are:

  • Develop and layout concepts for heavy material handling equipment systems for pulp and paper and primary metal industries.
  • Provide design recommendations with respect to equipment/components to meet client and/or company requirements, budget, and schedule.
  • Produce all required documents, general assembly drawings, details and BOM’s for fabrication and assembly of equipment.
  • Develop cost-effective concepts and solutions, in the form of systems and or individual machines.
  • Design material handling systems using computer design tools.
  • Select appropriate components and hardware.
  • Perform some calculations with respect to stress analysis, etc.
  • Respect budget and project schedule in the design.
  • Occasional travel to client sites to take measurements and review designs.

Qualifications and experience :

  • College or University degree in mechanical engineering or the equivalent with 3 to 5 years of experience in designing innovative machinery and material handling systems for large capital projects.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of Solidworks
  • Expert knowledge of mechanical elements
  • Some knowledge of field elements (sensors, actuators) used to control equipment
  • Strong knowledge of material handling equipment and systems for the pulp & paper and/or the primary metal industry is an asset.
  • Bilingual, written and verbal (French and English)
  • You must be an organized, a team player, who works well under pressure with a strong feeling for detail.

The employment is permanent, based on a 38-hour schedule of 4.5 days per week with the possibility of 4 days when there is no emergency on Fridays.
